Overview

The Center for Medical Data Science, consisting of six institutes, offers advice and support in planning and evaluating medical studies and bioinformatics projects.

The Center for Medical Data Science covers a wide spectrum of quantitative and methodological research in medicine and life sciences. Apart from dealing with the scientific issues of biostatistics, medical informatics, artificial intelligence, complex systems, and outcomes research, collaboration in medical and life science projects is an important part of its activities.

The Institutes of Medical Statistics and Clinical Biometrics offer

  • Advice and support concerning statistical aspects in the planning of medical trials and experiments, e.g., study design, randomisation, sample size estimation
  • Support in developing study protocols
  • Planning and conducting statistical analyses
  • Prediction models and causal inference from observational data
  • Statistical writing support for medical research articles (description and interpretation of statistical methods and analysis results, data visualisation)
  • (Co-)supervision of theses and dissertations
  • In-hospital training on selected statistical topics
  • Collaboration with applications for research projects
